ny charts or data tables that you want to insert into your report must already exist and be stored in the Chart Library. To insert a chart or table, choose the cell where you want to place it and then click the ‘Select chart from library icon’. The creating charts section in pi Documentation contains full information on creating charts.

You will now be able to select the chart or table from the Chart Library.

Charts and Tables will appear as icons when building the report but the data in them will be visible when the report is generated or previewed.

When a chart or table is inserted, the title that appears in the report will be the title that it was saved with. However, you can change the title in the report by overtyping the chart or table name at the top of the cell on the report page.

This will not affect the chart name in the Chart Library.

When a chart is inserted into a report, all the data in the chart will be visible in it’s cell. When a data table is inserted, in particular large tables that need scroll bars, they will be displayed in the report without scroll bars and will instead span multiple pages in order to display all rows.

Example

An example of a simple, formatted report. This report includes a variable for the date, plain text and a chart. We’ve also coloured some cells at the bottom of the report with the company colours.

If the chart that you’re adding also contains Help text, this will be displayed beneath the Chart Title.
