There may be occasions when you need to delete entire data connections. This guide will walk you through the steps you need to take in order to do this. It’s important that you follow the steps in order:

\uD83D\uDCD8 Instructions

Deleting the Objects

  1. Firstly, you’ll need to delete the objects from every table in your data connection.

In Dashboard Configuration > Data Connections, click the Data Connection that you want to remove on the left-hand side. On the Data tab, click the header for a table

  2. Click the 'Objects' tab and at the bottom-left, click the ‘To Delete’ button

  3. Click the ‘All’ button to select every object in the table

  4. You will now be able to click ‘Delete Selected’ to remove all the selected objects

If you’ve created any objects that you’re using to organise your objects you will need to delete all objects before you can delete the ‘Folder’ object. In the screenshot above, you can see the object ‘Custom Maps’ - this is being used as a folder to store all related objects. All objects in this ‘folder’ will need to be deleted before the ‘Custom Maps’ object can be deleted.

Deleting the Tables

  1. After deleting the objects, you need to delete the tables.

Click the Details tab and then click ‘Delete Table’ at the bottom-right

  2. After deleting the Objects and Tables, click the ‘Save’ icon.

If some of the objects have been used in Charts or Category Object filters, the following icon will be displayed at the bottom-right of the screen when you click the ‘Save’ icon

  3. Clicking this icon will show where objects have been used. You’ll need to delete any charts that they are being used in and remove any Category Object filters before you can save the deletions

The ‘Used By’ column will provide an indication of where the object has been used e.g. in a chart or on a category. When you’ve removed all the listed Category Objects and Charts you will be able to return to the Data Connection tab and click the ‘Save’ button again

  4. When all objects and tables have been removed (or moved), click the ‘To Delete’ button at the bottom-left of the Data Connections screen

  5. The Data Connections that can be deleted will have a selection box to the right of the name. Tick this box and then click ‘Delete Selected’
