On the ‘Edit, Chart’ screen, click the ‘Chart’ tab and choose ‘Chord Diagram' from the list of chart types.

To create a Chord Diagram, you will need to add the following information on the Data tab, the 3 required pieces of data are all dimensions:

  • Identifier - this is a field that links the nodes together such as a Service Desk ticket number.

  • Node - such as an Employee Name

  • State - such as Job Role

Drill Levels

You can specify drill levels for Chord Diagrams in the same way as you do for any other chart type, please refer to this section for more information on how to create drill levels.

Drilling on this chart uses a IN filter to group multiple items (this is different from other chart types). For example, we’ve created a drill level on this chart that drills down to a data table. If we drill on the ‘Jon’ node the table will show all links from any other node to Jon and all links from Jon to any other node.

We can see from the resulting table, after the ‘Jon’ node has been drilled into, that there are links between Jon, Ming and Leah with Ticket ID’s 1, 3, 4 and 5.

In the following table, we’ve drilled on the link between Jon and Leah and this shows that there are 3 Ticket ID’s that link them both - tickets 3, 4 and 5.
