piReports - an overview

piReports is an additional module that can be used in conjunction with pi Dashboard that will allow you to create and schedule visual, insightful reports.

Reports are created from existing elements within your dashboards such as charts and tables and can be supported by the addition of text to further clarify this information. Once created, you can schedule reports to be distributed by email or to be saved to a directory.

The scheduler element of piReports allows you to send content to users both within your organisation and externally, meaning that you only need to create a schedule once and then decide who you want to distribute it to. You can create schedules that will send content on a recurring schedule e.g. once a week or the last day of the month and it’s also possible to schedule the distribution of a chart only when data exists - this option would be perfect for users who only need to know if data exists for example, Service Desk Managers who need to know when new tickets are raised or Sales Managers who need to know when a new customer has been won. As well as formatted reports you can also schedule individual charts and data tables.

The reporting module applies existing security restrictions and user permissions as it distributes your reports so when a report is created and sent, the version of that report only contains the data that the recipient is authorised to see. The security permissions applied to decide what data the user receives uses the same parameters which are already configured within the dashboard.

Creating a report layout is easy in the Report Creation Screen, from this area you can customise the report to include, in addition to charts, data tables and text, company logos and headers and footers.

Navigation is simple, as it follows the same structure as the main dashboard pages. Everything within the Panintelligence modules is designed to be self-service and user friendly.

piReports can send data to a web service. For example, you can use Panintelligence to trigger actions within your software, which is commonly called If This Then That, or IFTTT. This becomes incredibly powerful when used in combination with piAnalytics to automate decisioning and actions based on your data.

pi Reports also includes a Monitoring option, which allows you to access a full audit trail of schedules that have been set up and run.

From within the dashboard, Admin users can assign user roles and privileges to control exactly who can schedule reports, and all these user restrictions will be honoured whenever a report schedule is sent.
