Useful Linux Commands

Below are some basic Linux commands you can use when troubleshooting an issue.

For example, if dashboard.sh all stop doesn’t stop all the services, you can use the kill command to ensure a process stops running.

$ ./dashboard all status
Tomcat is running (18845).
MariaDB is not running.
Excel Reader is not running.
Renderer is not running.
Scheduler is not running.
Pirana is not running.

In the above example tomcat is running on 18845. Now that we know it’s pid, we can kill it:

kill 18845 # This will kill the service.

Additionally you can force-kill a process too:

kill -9 18845
