We are pleased to present our latest offering of pi - our April 2021 release! This page helps summarise and familiarise you with the changes we have made, and is supported (where applicable) with useful videos to help explain the changes we have delivered.

Installer (Deployment#8)

Deployment

Windows installer will now copy Maria data (from db folder) and themes (from themes folder) and place them alongside the installer into a new clean install. This can be used to setup a pre-customised installation and can also be used with the silent installer for unattended use.

AWS Elasticsearch - JDBC Driver (pi#10)

Data Connectors

Description

JDBC driver has been implemented for AWS Elasticsearch Services.


Addition of SSL toggle option (pi#11)

Data Connections

Description

With the enablement of JDBS SSL options, a new environment variable has been added and a new flag, SSL, has been added as a checkbox in the UI and a new database field has been added to the MIS_DATA_CONNECTIONS table.

Multi Picker Category Object Filter (pi#12)

Description

When Multi-Picker has been selected in a Category Object filter and ‘Can Use in Temp Filter List of Values’ is ticked for the relevant object on the Data Connection screen users were previously only able to pick one value from the ‘List of Values’. This has now been fixed in this release.select one Default Value. The April release of the Dashboard now allows users to pick multiple values from the Default Value field. When users return to the relevant category the Multi-Picker chosen values will appear in the Category Filter section as Default Values.

Dashboard ‘Help’ (migrations-jar#1)

Dashboard

The ‘Help’ option now links, by default, to pi Documentation, where you can search for and find frequently used articles and see our newest content.

Screenshots

The ‘Help’ option can be seen by clicking the ‘More Options’ icon at the top-right of the dashboard.

If you don’t want to use the ‘Help’ option, remove the URL from the ‘System Variables: General’ section on the ‘Setting’s tab under ‘Dashboard Configuration’

Warnings/ Alerts

This feature will only appear if you do a clean install of the dashboard and do not restore any repositories. If you already have a repository that has a link to an online help URL, the current URL will not be removed or replaced.

Charts - Postgres (pi#6)

Dashboard

Description

Fixed PostgresSql objects displaying as [object Object] instead of the correct DB values. With this change the user does not need to do manual casts for special types from postgresSql.

API - 404 error (pi#62)

Excel Beta Tag (Excel Reader#21

API giving 404 with new created users due to old flex columns having default as null.

Measures in Crosstabs (pi#5)

Description

The Beta tag that was displayed on the Excel page in Data Connections has now been removedWhen using a Cross Tab table in the Dashboard that contains a date on the header with special characters, data was not displayed in the Cross Tab table. This has been fixed in this release.

Target values on Charts (pi#3)

Dashboard

Description

Charts that contain Targets that are created from a Redshift database were not being displayed correctly. The Targets on the chart were all displayed as 0. This has been fixed in this release.

Last Day of Month Schedule (scheduler#7)

pi Reports

Description

When a Schedule has been created for the last day of the month, there was an issue when a month contained less than 31 days. This has been fixed in this release and the Schedule will now run on the last day of the selected month e.g. 30th for April, June, September and November and either 28th or 29th for February depending on Leap Years.

Resizing columns in tables (PANINT-8895)

Description

When the header row in a table or crosstab were dragged manually in order to resize the columns, the columns were not resized. This has been fixed in this release.

Manually applying an IN Filter (pi#4)

Dashboard

Description

If a Category Object filter has been created that contains a multi-picker option and an IN filter was used on a chart for the related object, the chart was not being filtered correctly due to an error in the SQL code. For example, if a multi-picker category object filter has been applied that contains the object ‘Department’ and the following departments ‘Development’, ‘Finance’ and ‘HR’ have been selected from the category filter and charts that contain the IN filter with the value of {{Department}} should only show data for the selected departments i.e. ‘Development’, ‘Finance’ and ‘HR’. This issue has been fixed in this release.

Measures in Crosstabs (pi#5)

Description

When using a Cross Tab table in the Dashboard that contains a date on the header with special characters, data was not displayed in the Cross Tab table. This has been fixed in this release.

Charts - Postgres (pi#6)

Dashboard

Description

Fixed PostgresSql objects displaying as [object Object] instead of the correct DB values. With this change the user does not need to do manual casts for special types from postgresSql.

Special characters in column names (pi#7)

Description

When creating a table that has column names with special characters, the column names were not displayed correctly when the chart was saved. This has been fixed in this release.

Hiding Column Headings (pi#14)

Dashboard

Description

Column title headings were not being hidden when ‘&nbsp’ was entered into the Column Title field - this has been fixed in this release.

Crosstab Tables (pi#19)

Dashboard

Description

Crosstab tables were incorrectly displaying an encoded NULL value rather than being left blank. This has been fixed in this release.

Parent Charts (pi#16)

Description

The issue with Parent charts not working if the filter object name has the character '&' in it has been fixed in this release

Parent Child actions between 2 grids (pi#43)

Description

When a Parent Table is used to control a Child Chart and the Parent Table is sorted and filtered, the related Child Chart should be filtered and the Parent Table should retain the sort.

Upgrading dashboard - Scheduler (pi#20)

pi Reports

Description

If schedules have been created in pi Reports, these were not migrated into a new version of the dashboard following an upgrade. This has been fixed in this release and all schedules from an earlier version of the dashboard will now be available in the new version.

Parent Child actions between 2 grids (pi#43)

Description

When a Parent Table is used to control a Child Chart and the Parent Table is sorted and filtered, the related Child Chart should be filtered and the Parent Table should retain the sort

API - Role creation endpoint (pi#52)

API

Description

Fixed the response of the new API role creation endpoint. Previously successful creation returns the id of the newly created role. Now it returns the whole object with every available field matching the API documentation.
