LayoutsYou can quickly modify the way the dashboard is presented to users. The first change you may want to make is to replace a chart in a cell with a different chart. To do this, we can select a different chart from the Chart Library. Let’s look at an existing category. To swap the bar chart displayed on the top row, open the tools menu on the chart cell by clicking the ‘Chart Tools’ icon in the top-right corner of the cell. Then select the Chart Library button from the Tools menu. The Chart Library list will appear. This will show a list of all the charts you have access to; with charts grouped by the categories they belong to.
To replace the current chart with the one in the library click it in the library list and the existing chart will be replaced. This doesn’t delete or change the functionality of the previous chart; you are simply changing what you see in your layout.
Adding A New Chart CellSometimes we want to add an item from the Chart Library into a new cell on the category. To do this, we need to create a new cell on the category page. This involves splitting an existing chart cell. A category will always have at least one chart cell, so can always be split in this way. To create a new cell, open chart tools on the cell you want to split by clicking the ‘Chart Tools’ icon at the top-right of the cell. There are two buttons you can use to split a cell: | ||||

This is now your own individual layout. If you look at other users’ screens, they may not look the same as yours. |
Removing A Chart Cell
If there is a chart in the cell, open chart tools and click for the ‘ Remove cell’ icon.
Info |

This deletes the cell, not the chart. In the example above, if the cell that contains the Employee Count by Age Group chart is deleted, we can still open the chart library and retrieve the chart. |
If it is an empty cell, the ‘Remove cell’ icon is located in the top right of the cell.
Publishing A Layout
There are two types of layout in the dashboard. Depending on the type of user account you have you will be able to only see the default layout for a category, or you will be able to create your own tailored layout.
If you wantother users |
see |
A user who does not have the ability to create their own layout. In Pi we call these users Chart Viewers.
A user who can create their own layout, but hasn’t yet changed it, so they are currently viewing the default layout.
Info |

We cannot publish layouts to users who have their own tailored layouts. |
To publish a layout all we need to do is click the ‘Manage layout’ button located in the top right-hand corner of the dashboard and then select ‘Save as Default Layout’.
Clicking ‘Revert to Default Layout’ will change your layout back to the same as the current default layout.
Once published you will receive a confirmation in a ‘snack bar’ popup as shown below.

Other applicable users will need to refresh their browser session to pick up the newly published layout. |
