I disabled some permissions for users but they keep requesting them.

Scenario

You created a new user and you unticked some permissions but they keep asking you to grant them.

Solution

If users can see permissions that you don’t want them to have access to, even though they’re disabled and they can’t use them, it might be a good idea to stop the buttons appearing altogether. That way, users won’t even know that the relevant permission is a possibility and therefore hopefully won’t request access to it!

In the following example, we created a new user and removed the permissions:

  • Can Download PDF

  • Export to Excel

  • Export to CSV

  • Export to Word

If we saved the account like this users would still be able to see the disabled permissions.

However, if we unticked the ‘Display Disabled Chart Buttons’ on Dashboard Configuration > Users

users would not see the disabled buttons.
