Microsoft SQL Server Express Installation

The following instructions assume MSSQL Server is NOT already installed on the server. If there is already an existing MSSQL Server that the customer would like to be used instead, then skip to the SQL Configuration section.

  1. Go to https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/sql-server/sql-server-downloads and download the latest version

  2. After running the downloaded installer, select the Basic option when requested and just follow the default install instructions and locations (C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server)

  3. Once this is complete (it may take some time), there is an option to install SQL Management Studio (SSMS). This is the user interface to interact with the SQL Server
