Limitations

Merged charts combine data from separate child charts. As each child chart is fetched separately this may have an impact on performance of your dashboard and therefore, to limit any performance issues to the minimum we have restricted the number of child charts that you can use to 3.

Supported Chart Types

The only chart types that are supported are charts that have an X and Y axis with the exception of Variable Width Bar, Column, Waterfalls, Scatter, Bubble and Combined charts.

If, after adding suitable child charts to the Merged chart, a user changes one of the chart types to a type that is not supported by Merged charts the data from this child chart will no longer be pulled into the Merged chart. A notification icon will be displayed at the top left of the Merged chart cell and when a user clicks on this, they will see the following message.

User Permissions

If users don’t have permission to see a particular chart, the relevant child chart will not be pulled into the Merged chart and they will see a ‘Notification’ message (on the Merged chart) that tells them that they don’t have permission to view a chart along with the chart ID of the relevant chart.

Line and Spline Charts

The Line dots that previously appeared on Line and Spline charts no longer appear by default.

If you want to enable them on your Line or Spline chart, click the ‘Dashboard Configuration’ icon at the top right of the dashboard. Under Themes, select the theme that you’re using on your dashboard from the left-hand side of the screen and on the Configuration tab tick ‘Show Line Dots’.

Trend Lines and Targets

Trend Lines and Targets will not be displayed on a Merged chart, even if they’re been specified on a child chart. In the following screenshot we’ve displayed the child charts at the top of the dashboard to show that a Trend line has been added to chart one and a Target line has been added to chart 2.

The Merged chart does not display either of these.
