Formatting Merged Tables

A Merged Table will not have the same formatting options as a regular table. You can still use formatting options but they must be specified on each child table. So, format your child tables as you would a regular table, e.g. row colours, column headings and totals and when the child tables are merged, the Merged Table will contain the specified formatting from the child tables.

Formatting Merged Tables

You will be able to change/add the following on a merged table:

  • Add a Chart Title

  • Add a Chart Subtitle

  • Add Row Numbers

  • Change the width of the columns

Drill Down paths

When child tables contain drill down levels the mouse icon will change to a grab icon in the Merged Table, on the columns containing the drill levels, to let users know that they can drill on that column. When users click on a drill column, they will drill into the child table that contains the drill level.

If 2 tables share the same drill level on a particular column, users will be prevented from drilling down.

Pagination

If a child table includes pagination it will not be included in the Merged Table. Pagination can also not be added to a Merged Table.

Totals

If child tables contain totals these will be displayed in the Merged Table in the same columns as the related measure. The following screenshot shows the result of merging two tables, one with totals and one without.

We do not, however, combine total figures that are common across the child charts into one grand total figure in the Merged Table.
