How do I give my new user access to dashboard content?

When you’re creating new users, we recommend following the same procedure for each user. This makes the process of adding and editing users a lot easier to manage.

When adding new users, we recommend creating Roles and then adding users to those roles. If you need to change the permissions for a particular group of users it’s easier to make the change at Role level. The changes will then apply to all users who have been assigned to the relevant role.

What if I need users with a particular role to have different permissions?

Even though users have been assigned to a role and will automatically inherit the specified permissions for the role you can still add or remove permissions for individual users.

 Instructions

  1. Create a new role in Dashboard Configuration > Roles and give this role access to the permissions that you want the relevant users to have

  2. In Dashboard Configuration > User Access > Role, select the Categories that you want users with that role be able to see

  3. In Dashboard Configuration > User Access >Role, select each user that you want to assign to the role (make sure you select the role on the right-hand side of the screen first)

Changing permissions for a particular user

If users are assigned to a particular role, there’s nothing preventing you from removing or adding permissions for individual users. In the example shown above, we created a role and assigned a user to it. We’ve now made changes to the individual user in Dashboard Configuration > Users by changing their User Type to Administrator and giving them the permission to ‘Edit Users’

This will not affect any other users with the same role, the extra permissions apply to the individual user only.

**Please note that you will not be able to assign extra permissions to users if the Role itself does not already contain that permission.**
